Smart Roads: IBI Group Part of the Innovative ACTIVE-AURORA Research Project
卡尔加里, AB(一月二十四日), 2018)——在一个联系日益紧密的世界, private and public organizations are constantly developing more effective ways to inform the general public about issues that can directly affect their daily lives. IBI Group is currently involved 与 many Intelligent Transportation 系统 (ITS) projects that target transportation infrastructure across the world, 以提高能力为目的, 效率, 安全, 生产力, 可持续性和模式连通性. We are proud to be working in partnership 与 the University of Alberta, 英属哥伦比亚大学, 加拿大和阿尔伯塔省政府, the City of Edmonton and other academic and industry partners on ACTIVE-AURORA, 加拿大首个联网汽车测试平台.
The ACTIVE-AURORA project consists of four test beds and two laboratory test environments. ACTIVE (Alberta Co-operative Transportation Infrastructure and Vehicular Environment) is the component located in Alberta, and AURORA (Automotive Test Bed for Reconfigurable and Optimized Radio Access) is located in Vancouver. These test beds feature sensors 与in the roads that feed valuable information via wireless technology to travelers in real time; this allows a variety of stakeholders to create software applications, 测试硬件组件, 模拟和模拟收费, 从试验台收集和分析数据.
The Albertan test beds are located in Edmonton on Whitemud Drive, Anthony Henday Drive and 23rd 大道. Car manufacturers are already 测试 these 安全 features so this technology will soon become more attainable to the general consumer. 在不久的将来, the assumption is that autonomous cars will use this valuable information to navigate roads safely and efficiently.
The information collected on these Edmonton test bed roads includes:
- 行人警报;
- 接近弯道时的不安全速度通知;
- 对紧跟其他车辆的警告;
- 通知高碰撞地点;
- notification of recommended driving speeds depending on the current traffic conditions; and
- whether or not drivers will be able to safely drive through an intersection on a green light before it turns red.
The unique Albertan climate provides added benefits to the ACTIVE research project, as we experience freeze/thaw cycles and sensors are subjected to harsher conditions and use items such as salt on our road surfaces. 它也是世界上唯一一个在这种气候下的试验台. This real-world exposure will allow the collection of valuable data as well as a space for the development, 测试, demonstration and ultimate commercialization of the latest innovations in active traffic management.
The ACTIVE-AURORA test bed infrastructure provides the University of Alberta and University of British Columbia 与 the ability to collaborate 与 other organizations from across Canada and around the world. As part of IBI Group’s ongoing collaboration 与 the U of A on this initiative, we are proud to participate as an industry partner for the ACTIVE AURORA Connected Vehicle Test Bed.
